Do it Afraid. Do it in Pain. Do it Alone. Do it By Faith.

The Sequel

By Dee Wieninger

Yes, God blessed me with a special relaxing time in our unit while Fred explored Yellowstone, but while watching the weather channel two days into our stay they cautioned that another snowstorm was on its way.  This was my cue to hightail it home.

Another blessing in our relationship was that we agreed that I could head home requiring a bus ticket into Salt Lake City, changing my flight out of Denver to Salt Lake City and forfeiting my return train excursion back to Denver. It did permit me an overnight stay in a very nice hotel in Salt Lake City with the added bliss of room service.

Although much of this was very nice and gave me a sense of independence, self-reliance wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.  I knew when I left my strapping, helpful, accommodating husband back in Yellowstone, I would be on my own lugging my suitcase, computer bag and purse. Honestly though there were bellboys and skycaps at my service, but I still had the painful and tiresome task of carrying my own body to my destinations and I made one major mistake, letting the bellboy leave my room without asking that he put my suitcase on the second bed. These are the words I am struggling to say through my hysterics in the video.

This video is my narration of my day’s jaunt to our daughter. I don’t know if I was weary, overwhelmed or just plain thrilled to be alive and still able to walk, well, at least limp. Whatever it was I certainly found great humor in my struggles.

It’s probably a good thing that we don’t take ourselves so seriously that we can’t laugh at ourselves. I don’t think I had ever been so happy as when I finally arrived home and five days later my husband returned home safe and sound. Well, “sound” is relative, but he was safe! 😊

Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.” The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. Psalms 126:2-3

He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. Job 8:21
