If this is all I allow you for now, will you still honor me in it?

I will follow you - Chris Tomlin - Childrens Ministry from lovehopenpray on GodTube.

There were a few videos of this song but I selected this one as it conveys following Christ early in life and follow him like a child, in sweet innocence!

The Olympics have begun! I love watching the Olympics! I think most people do. What is it about this competition that excites so many? There is so much hype in the preparation as the host city goes to great expense to build and prepare. Competition in so many events certainly offers something for everyone! The one thing that excites me is watching someone who has trained so hard and long in one event being presented the gold medal- declared the best in the world! It gives us a degree of hope that if we stick with something long enough and give it the very best we have within us we too can succeed in our endeavors!

I wrote a story a few years ago called "Doing the Difficult on Purpose." It resonates in my heart as I watch the Olympics!  In this story I share of a wonderful trip my husband and I took a few years ago to Lake Tahoe. It conveys the challenge of skiing the MOST DIFFICULT terrains know as Double Black Diamonds and how putting forth that same kind of committed effort in our marriage relationship, or any area of our life for that matter, would reap the gold!

I enjoy watching the synchronized divers in the summer olympics. It's amazing to see the two divers move with such grace and precision that they look like mirror images of each other! I can't help but think how wonderful it would be to have a marriage that flowed with such award winning moves!  I can't even imagine what that would look like!  Fred and I recently celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary!  This is definitely a God thing! As I have shared in other stories I usually want to run from conflict and if it was up to me I would have left years ago, but as this website consistently declares it's not about my husband or me! It's about a commitment to someone greater then the two of us and that commitment has taught us to honor God even in the tough stuff! I've been trying to think of an olympic event that might depict our marriage! Hmmmmm!  This is not easy but in an individual event I would have to say Fred is a "Curler" ("chess on ice"-Fred loves chess) in the Winter Olympics and I'm a ribbon twirler in the Summer Olympics! Yep! That would be us! About as different as night and day! The beauty of night and day is that God created both with a very special purpose and when working together ACCORDING TO HIS PLAN makes for a full 24 hour day and He said each day was GOOD!

My synchronized partner is not and should never be Fred. My synchronized partner must always be the Lord Jesus Christ!  As long as I follow Him all other areas of my life will react in kind!  There is a contemporary Christian song by Chris Tomlin called, "I Will Follow".  It's chorus goes:

Where you go, I'll go

Where you stay, I'll stay

When you move, I'll move

I will follow you

Who you love, I'll love

How you serve I'll serve

If this life I lose, I will follow you

Now that's a powerfully synchronized life!  When we practice and train in following Jesus in every move He makes then we reap the gold!

We'll be seeing many stories of these Olympic athletes the next couple of weeks about how hard they've trained and the sacrifices it took to get where they are right now!  Romans 12:18 says, "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."  Only you can put forth the effort it will take to live an Olympic Synchronized Life!  Give it all you have! Our gold is God!
