What's So Good About Being Half Alive?

  Meeting in our Zoom classroom:

In reply Jesus said: "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of

robbers. They stripped him of His clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half-dead.   Luke 10:30

God has a plan and a purpose for my life:

Do you really believe God has a plan and purpose for your life? Jeremiah 29:11

God says what He means and means what He says, shouldn’t we?

Do I really want to be free from my suffering and am I willing to take part in the process?

Naaman: II Kings 5:8-14, Blind man: John 9:1-7

2 Kings 5:1, 10-14

Naaman Healed of Leprosy

Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy.

She said to her mistress, “If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.”

Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, “Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed.”

But Naaman went away angry and said, “I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy. Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn’t I wash in them and be cleansed?” So he turned and went off in a rage.

Naaman’s servants went to him and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, ‘Wash and be cleansed’!” So he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy.

Then Naaman and all his attendants went back to the man of God. He stood before him and said, “Now I know that there is no God in all the world except in Israel.

Christ gives us life abundant.  “The thought of doing God’s purpose for me only half-way brings feelings of remorse and the thought that if I am living “half alive” spiritually it better be because I really am “half dead” physically.”

There is something peaceful and empowering about doing what God has called you to “go” do.

Do you recall a time you felt God was calling you to do something and...

What do we do with very specific lessons the Lord gives us for our life? i.e. ignore or implement. How do you implement?

- you hesitated and questioned His reasons for the request?

- you did what was requested without hesitation?

Describe the difference in each situation.

What are words and scriptures we can choose that feed our obedience?
